We all love those little samples of yarn, but what to knit with them? This pattern is part of the ‘Outside the Box’ pattern collection made especially for yarn sampler boxes. The whole collection is available for 10 USD on Ravelry.

This little trinket bag uses up little scraps of yarn and the tiny little samples that you don’t know what to do with.The bag is small with a sturdy bottom, yet large enough to put to lots of uses: coin bag, key holder, marble bag, necklaces or jewellery and lots more. I’m using mine to stow my son’s iShuffle, earphones and charger when we’re travelling.

And the best thing about these bags?
Each one of them is an individual work of art!

Materials: approximately 20 grams (80 m) of yarn samples in different colours and weight
Sample uses two samples: a loopy wool in colour B, and a fingering yarn in colour A.

Needles: US size 0-1 (2.00-2.25 mm) set of 4 or 5 dpns, or size to obtain gauge

Gauge: Approx. 22 stitches and 30 rows over 4 inches / 10 cm in st st, knitted in the round. Though gauge is not important, it will affect the final size of your bag.

Finished Size: 5 cm (2”) wide and 10 cm (4”) high

Difficulty: Easy. Uses the following stitches:

k - knit
m1 - make 1 stitch
yo - yarn over
k2tog - knit 2 stitches together
st - stitch(es)
