Actual yarn and needle size recommended are “less than 1 oz. of white Andalusian wool, and 1 yard of either white or narrow pink bébé ribbon to run in at the ankle. Use two No. 16 steel knitting needles.” I believe UK “No. 16” actually corresponds to a US 000 needle.
