Liv Tee is knit from the top down. The collar and the button bands are worked in double knitting, so those parts are neat and the same on both sides, while the rest of the garment is worked in plain stockinette. You begin at the neck and work your way down, letting the shape grow as you go rather than seaming pieces together at the end.

You cast on at the collar and first work a flat edge in double knitting. Because the sweater has a button opening at the front, the work is kept flat at the beginning, and you work the buttonholes in the bands along this opening. A set-up round then divides the work with markers into front, shoulders, and back.
First you shape the shoulders, increasing only on the body while the opening remains flat. For sizes 5–10 the work is joined into the round at the end of the shoulder increases; for sizes 1–4 this happens after the puff sleeves. The yoke then grows through the sleeve increases and raglan increases until it is wide enough across the bust and upper arms.

When the yoke is finished you separate the work: the body stitches continue downward and are finished with ribbing, while the sleeve stitches are set aside. Finally you pick up stitches under each arm and knit the sleeves downward with regular decreases, before they too are finished with ribbing.

About Pattern
Gauge: 20 sts per 10 cm / 4 in
Row Gauge: 26 rows per 10 cm / 4 in

Needles: use a needle size that gives you the correct gauge — for many knitters this is around 4 mm / US 6, but always swatch and adjust. Consider going down one size for the ribbing.
