On August 4, 1892, two elderly people were murdered with a hatchet in the sleepy town of Fall River, Massachusetts. Their youngest daughter Lizzie was accused of the murders, but ultimately acquitted. She had burned the dress she wore that morning, claiming it was old and stained with paint.

But nobody checked her socks…. ?
