The Lobster Socks are designed to celebrate the bright hues of a coastal New England sunset and crustacean shells, and they draw inspiration from the ships that bring in the catch. These socks are worked from the cuff down and only require four colors to make the intermediate-level motifs.

Finished Size 8½“ foot circumference and 9” long from back of heel to tip of toe; foot length is adjustable.

Yarn HiKoo CoBaSi (55% cotton, 21% elastic nylon, 16% bamboo, 8% silk; 220 yd 201 m/1¾ oz 50 g): #047 really red (A) and #003 natural (B), 2 skeins each; #011 indigo (C) and #057 gold crest (D), 1 skein each. Yarn distributed by Skacel.

Needles Sizes 1 (2.25 mm) and 1½ (2.5 mm). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notions Markers (m); tapestry needle.

Gauge 34 sts and 48 rnds = 4” in St st on smaller needles.

NOTES

  • These socks are worked in the round from the cuff down.
  • When picking up stitches for the gusset along the heel flap, pick up two of the stitches above the top of the heel to prevent a gap.
