Log Cabin quilts first made a widespread apperance in United States in the 1860s during the time of the Civil War. The origins of the Log Cabin block seem to go back much further in time and location. Similar designs have been found on acient Egyptian mummies and in English quilt predating 1830.

The execution of the Log Cabin pillow begins with a central spuare surrounded by cocheted blocks. I have written down my Log Cabin composition. There are 14 colours in the pattern but you don´t need to use as many. You can easily get a very nice result with fewer colours. The front of the Log Cabin pillow is sewn to a pre-made pillow cover bought separately.
