The Lola Pet Poncho is worked from the top down with raglan increases. The Lola has a close fit with a cardigan-style open front and belly; perfect for pets that have mobility issues or don’t like having things pulled over their heads. The longer back is finished with a simple crochet edging and fringe for days, meaning your pet will look groovy no matter the time of year! Of course, the option to add color or pattern is up to you, leaving the option to make this poncho as far out as you’d like.

DIFFICULTY
Intermediate
You will need to know how to cast on, knit stitch, purl stitch, work increases, bind off, work with multiple colors and have an understanding of RS vs WS of work. You will also need to understand simple crochet techniques for the crocheted edge.

SIZES
XXS (XS) S (M) L (XL) 1XL

The Lola Pet Poncho is designed to be a relatively fitted style with an open front and belly, however you can adjust the sizing to add ease as needed. The sizes XXS (XS) S (M) L (XL) 1XL are designed to have a fitted neck and a positive ease of about 2-5” / 5-12.5 cm at the chest and fit a neck circumference of 8 (9) 12 (14) 17 (19) 23 inches / 20 (23) 30.5 (35.5) 43 (48) 58.5 cm and a chest circumference of 11 (14.5) 17 (20) 25 (30) 34 inches / 28 (37) 43 (51) 63.5 (76) 86 cm. The measurements for the finished poncho listed on the first page are only achieved if the poncho is knitted in the correct gauge. Before beginning, measure your pet with a measuring tape around her neck, along her back, and the widest part of her body to determine which size would fit best. I recommend trying the poncho on your pet as you work. You may adjust the length as needed.

ALSO INCLUDED
Also included with your download is the Fuzzywuz Knitwear - Size Modification Guide. This guide has been designed to work in tandem with all Fuzzywuz Knitwear patterns to help users modify sizing for any pets that do not fit within the standard FW size chart.

For example, if your pet is barrel chested and wider through the chest than usual, or much skinnier than most, this guide aims to help you understand how to adjust the sizing of each pattern to get a perfect fit!

(Please keep in mind that any of these modifications may increase the amount of yardage needed so make sure to account for this when purchasing yarn. Please also note that this guide is not a pattern and cannot be used separately to make a pet sweater, it is simply a guide to assist with size modifications to any Fuzzywuz Knitwear patterns.)

The Size Modification Guide is made for an Intermediate / Advanced skillset. In addition to needing to know basic knitting techniques, you will need to understand gauge and be able to do a fair amount of math on your own to adjust your sizing. While this guide will describe the steps needed to customize your pet’s measurements, you will need to do the actual calculations on your own, as each pet is unique.

PLEASE NOTE
This pattern and accompanying Size Modification Guide is for personal, non-commercial use only. The pattern may not be copied, resold or redistributed in any way. You also may not sell any items produced using this pattern. The guide may not be used to develop a pattern separately.
