Colorful concentric welts bring to mind a favorite summertime treat in the Lollipop Crossbody Bag. This project is ideally sized for a relaxing knitting experience and results in a bag just large enough to carry your essentials while leaving your hands free for all your favorite summer activities!

The pattern is written for one size, resulting in a bag approximately 7”/18 cm wide and 1”/2.5 deep, but you can customize it to whatever size you like. I have included directions and diagrams for the felt lining that adds structure and sturdiness to your bag. The updated version now includes both a no-zipper version (photo #2) and a zippered version (photo #1) along with its video demo and a color planner to help you plan out your yarn colors.

Yarn: fingering, sport, or DK weight yarn
Note: The welts are easier to work with wool or other elastic yarns.
The sample’s MC is fingering weight cotton and CC is a sport weight wool blend yarn.

Yardage:
Fingering: 185 yards / 170 meters of MC and CC
Sport: 170 yards / 155 meters of MC and CC
DK: 155 yards / 140 meters of MC and CC

Gauge:
Fingering: 28 sts and 56 rounds = 4”/10 cm in garter stitch with MC
Sport: 26 sts and 52 rounds = 4”/10 cm in garter stitch with MC
DK: 24 sts and 48 rounds = 4”/10 cm in garter stitch with MC

Needles:
32”/80 cm circular needle and a set of DPNs in size necessary to obtain gauge
