Loon
One of my favorite birds is the Common Loon. Each summer, I love to listen to their eerie calls echoing across lake waters as the sun fades. Their plumage, monochramatic, yet intricate, is reflected here in this comfortable, warm hat.
Sizing of this hat is based on the gauge. The smaller hat calls for a gauge of 24 stitches/31 rows = 4 inches. The larger hat calls for a gauge of 23 stitches/28 rows = 4 inches. Please swatch carefully, taking into account that your gauge may be tighter when knitting colorwork.
You will need 1 skein black yarn (Quince and Co. Lark in Crow) and 1 skein of white yarn (Quince and Co. Lark in Egret). A small amount of red yarn (Quince and Co. Lark in Barolo) is optional. You can choose to knit the edge of the hat in black or white.
