Loop Cowl is a simple cowl, worked in the round without purling. It’s easy movie-night knitting for 3/4 of the project, and the lace patch is easy to master.

Because this design is so simple, I’ve included notes to help you knit not only the cowl as written, but a thicker/deeper version, or a longer circular scarf. (You have a couple of options for that: work the written pattern multiple times, or increase the number of rounds in each repeat.)

However, I’m really pleased with how the base cowl turned out: the doubled fabric is very cozy, and it’s thick enough to stand up on its own or shape as more of a cowl-collar. It’s also just narrow enough to pull up as an earwarmer, although if you are big into earwarmers and plan to wear your cowl that way often, you may want to modify the loop to be a little smaller. (Hats and headbands feel warmer if they have no ease or even a little negative ease. I think.)
