I’m going to be honest: even as an avid crocheter who practically worships all things hooked, I never really liked crochet baby blankets. Gasp! I KNOW!

Both of my little monkeys needed to be very tightly swaddled to sleep and a large majority of baby blankets are holey. Tight swaddle + lots of holes = little fingers and toes and even limbs popping out EVERYWHERE. So wiping away a little of tear of shame, I would cave and grab a knitted blanket.

So one of the main reasons behind this design is to make a crochet baby blanket with NO HOLES that will work excellently for a swaddle blanket. I sized it all the way up to king size because it would also look cool as a bedspread as well.

Are you intimidated by cables? With design, there is NO NEED to shy away. This blanket uses only very basic stitches and not a single post stitch. Further, the lack of post stitches means it will use LESS yarn that a typical cabled blanket.

Use any hook, yarn, or color combination that you like. Detailed sizing instructions included to help you get your creative juices flowing. Very little counting and the perfect pattern to make when you’re also watching…er listening…to Netflix. Enjoy!
