This is the eigth installment in my series of patterns using the very back loop of the half double crochet, which is one of my favorite crochet effects! The moss stitch pattern is also used, which is super simple and will be explained in the instructions for the body of the bag. This is a perfect stashbusting and scrapbusting project, and also looks really lovely in variegated yarn.

I’m naming this the Louise Bag because Louise was my great grandma’s name, and it’s my middle name as well as my mom’s middle name and my nana’s middle name - and, of course, my cat Edna’s middle name. It’s special to me and I figured it was time to call a pattern Louise!

What You’ll Need:

Roughly 400 yards of medium 4 weight yarn and the crochet hook that you would normally use with medium 4 weight yarn to produce the tension you like (I typically use between 4.0 and 5.0 mm). The bag can be customized to be as tall or short as you’d like, so yardage may vary. I recommend having fun with your scraps and seeing what kinds of cool color combinations you can come up with!
