This design combines the textures of fuzzy yarns with the simplicity of block-printed floral motifs. Additional inspiration came from Lisa Richardson’s young son, whose hand-drawn hearts, scattered across the page, resembled small flowers. A combination of 3-ply wool and airy alpaca bouclé was chosen to add texture and depth to the colourwork pattern, while the bouclé floats carried across the wrong side add warmth and comfort. The relaxed cardigan is designed for easy layering and can be worn as a light jacket in autumn.

NOTES
The cardigan is worked from the 3 x 3 Rib hem up in one piece to the armholes, in a stranded colourwork pattern, with neck shaping. Shoulders are shaped with w&t short rows. The sleeves are picked up around the armhole edge and worked down, again in the stranded colourwork pattern, allowing the length to be adjusted as desired. The sleeves are finished with a 3 x 3 Rib cuff. Optional pockets can be added for extra practicality, or omitted for a cleaner look. Finally, the cardigan is completed with a 3 x 3 Rib buttonband.
