If substituting other yarns plan on approx 125 yds of a worsted weight yarn for each of the center sections and approx 100 yds of a worsted weight yarn for each ruffled section.

You will need a size 8 needle for the center section and a 32” size 6 circular needle to pick up stitches and work the edgings.
