We rise and fall and light from dying embers, remembrances that hope and love last longer
And love is love is love is love is love is love is love is love cannot be killed or swept aside.
—Lin-Manuel Miranda

While watching the news unfold after the shooting at Pulse in Orlando in June 2016, I dug through my stash and started knitting as a way to process what was, at that time, the latest of too many tragic events. I wanted to make something that would highlight the brilliance of a rainbow, even through the darkness of the moment.

In the months immediately following the tragic shooting at Pulse, Equality Florida raised nearly $10 million to support those affected by the shooting. Equality Florida is now working on a second campaign in honor of the 49 people killed during the attack. If you enjoy this pattern, please consider contributing to their campaign at https://www.gofundme.com/forthe49 or to a local LGBTQ group in your area.

Love is Love is Love is a triangular shawl that begins with a series of garter-stitch stripes punctuated with windowpane stripes, made using a simple slip-stitch pattern, followed by three repeats of lace edging.

The pattern was designed to be worked using two skeins of fingering-weight yarn: a Main Color that is gradient with a long color repeat and a solid Contrast Color. The sample uses ~100g / 396 yards of KnitPicks Chroma in Prism as the Main Color and a slightly smaller amount of a dark gray, mystery yarn I picked up in Peru as the Contrast Color.

This pattern requires the ability to read charts.
