Love It or Leaf It Cowl by Mary W Martin

Love It or Leaf It Cowl

This pattern has been discontinued because there is a much easier version available. Please see the New Leaf Cowl.

This cowl is completely reversible with vines of leaves climbing up its height. The leaf design is worked using the Fusion Knitting technique that creates a drapey fabric that looks strikingly different on each side.

This pattern is written with 9 repeats for the fingering weight yarn (shown in Lichen & Lace Evergreen & Natural) and 4 repeats for the DK weight yarn (shown in The Blue Brick Sumac & Birch). It can be knit with any number of repeats and with any weight of yarn. The fingering weight cowl is very drapey and is beautiful worn over the shoulders or wrapped twice around your neck. The double thick cables make the DK weight cowl super squishy and it is a great for wearing with your winter coat.

This cowl is knit in the round. Two yarns are used. The MC yarn is used in the top and bottom edges.

The fingering weight cowl shown uses 550 yards of the Evergreen and 450 yards of the Natural. The DK weight cowl shown uses 280 yards of the Sumac and 250 yards of the Birch.

The Reversible Step Series is an introduction is Fusion Knitting. It explains how this technique works and practices the cables most commonly used. Fusion Knitting Tutorials show how to do the most commonly used cables without the use of a cable needle.

Please also see the Love It or Leaf It Scarf/Wrap. This cowl which is knit in the round is easier than the scarf/wrap which is knitted flat.
