Lovestory is the name that I picked for my new lace-patterned, romantic and flattering summer-top. It came quite naturally, as I worked it in one of my favorite colors for summer; Deep ocean blue. I kept thinking of how important the ocean is to me; about all the walks at the beach admiring the sea at every kind of weather, from morning to late night. To see the changes of the surface, the colors from soft grey to darkest, deepest blue, hearing the waves, smelling the salt… It never stops to intrigue me, to give me strength and calm my soul, to give me beauty and variety….

The construction of this top is bottom-up and in-the-round underarms, from where front and back are worked seperately and back-and-forth. The shape of the body is a slight A-line which gives room and comfort as well as being flattering. No seaming, and very little finishing work.

Sizes: there are 5 different sizes to choose from. Each size can be worked at either 22 or 24 sts to 10cm/4” which means that there are 10 different bust measurements to choose from:

At gauge 22 sts: 31/36/40/46/51”
At gauge 24 sts;28/33/38/42/48”
Important If you want the fit as in the pictures you need to choose a size that has a chest circumference close to your own measurements.

Wool: I used the mercerized cotton “Sirdar Cotton DK” to work the top. Depending on your mood and taste you could use merino, alpaca, silk, cashmere, linen… as long as you respect the gauge corresponding to the size you are working.

Knitting skills: The shape and Construction of the top requires basic knitting skills. The lace-pattern of the bottom of the body is easy and repetetive. The lace-pattern of the upper back needs to be centered, as well as the pattern just below fronts neckline. No difficult stiches are involved.

The pattern: The pattern is in English, with both cm and inches. It contains row-by-row instructions as well as charts for all lace-work involved, as well as stichcounts.
