This is the chart for my “lövvantar” or ‘Leaf Mittens’. They were submitted to the 2017-18 Swedish mitten-sharing project “Dela vantar”, or ‘Sharing mittens’ - where numerous Swedish knitters designed and shared their mitten patterns for free. Since I’ve had so many questions and requests for this pattern, I thought it would be nice to make it available on ravelry too - even if it is just a chart!

You can read (in Swedish) more about the project and access all the patterns here: http://vantar.hemslojdeniskane.se/ .

These mittens are simple in construction, but please note that the pattern is basically JUST A CHART - it does not contain instructions on how to knit a mitten, how to cast on, bind off, make stitches or adding a thumb.

The little written instruction translated into English:

1. Cast on 66 sts, distribute evenly on 4 dpns. I used 1,5 (Metric size)

  1. Knit ribbing for approx. 30 rounds, I used a knit one through the back of the loop, purl one repeat.
  2. Make one stitch in the beginning and the end of every needle = 74 st.
  3. Change to a half number bigger needles (size 2, Metric), knit chart.
  4. Don’t forget to knit in a thread for the thumb after the 26th pattern round.
  5. Knit according to chart.

I used a three random yarns of approx. 350m/100g. Use whatever you fancy in the fingering-sock-sport weight range! You’ll need less than 50g of each colour - a perfect project to use up leftovers.

Knitted with dpns 1,5 for the ribbing and 2 for the mitten with a gauge about 38st and 36rows over 10cm x10 cm they fit an average female hand.
