Like music, dance, rituals, and stories and other non-physical aspects of culture that individuals recognize as part of their identity that is passed down through generations, the social and wellness practice of Finnish sauna culture has been designated an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Löyly is the Finnish term describing the sacred steam created by throwing water onto hot stones on the heater.
Aspects of sauna culture that have grown its appeal include the cleansing of body and mind through relaxation, reflection, and inner peace, and a sense of harmony with nature, the self, and others.
Similar heat-bathing practices exist around the world, but the Finnish-style of practice has been widely embraced in Tofino where the calm atmosphere, heat, and community provide the perfect antidote to the long steely winters in a remote location known for stormy skies and cold that gets into your bones.

A sauna hat can be worn dry, where the felt creates a layer of thermal insulation that slows heat transfer to your head, allowing you to stay more comfortable for longer periods of time. It can also be wet with cool water before wearing, providing refreshment during an intense session.

This pattern has 2 sizes, adults S/M corresponding to head circumference 53-56 cm, and M/L corresponding to head circumference 57-60 cm.
