Sometimes a pattern takes a roundabout way of making its way out into the world. My Luminosity Sweater pattern definitely didn’t follow a straight and narrow path. Several years ago I dreamed up the Luminosity chart. I had plans for a sweater for myself but decided to test out the chart in a hat before committing to an adult sized garment. I published the Luminosity Hat pattern and absolutely loved it. Next I decided to play around with the same chart and knit it in a more subdued palette as a sweater dress for my daughter. Little Luminosity was born! Finally, it was my turn to have the magical neon rainbow yoke Luminosity Sweater of my dreams. And let me tell you, it was worth the wait!

Gauge
24 stitches and 32 rows in 4” in stockinette stitch in the round using larger needles. It is common for stranded knitting to be tighter than single colour stockinette so be sure to swatch both and consider going up a needle size for the colourwork portion if needed.

Recommended Needles
3.25 mm (US size 3) 16” circular needle for garter stitch collar, 24” or longer for garter stitch hem.
3.25 mm (US size 3) set of 4 dpns for garter stitch sleeve cuffs.
3.75 mm (US size 5) 16” and 32” circular needles for stockinette stitch body.
3.75 mm (US size 5) set of 4 dpns for stockinette stitch sleeves.
Or size needed to obtain gauge.

Yarn
Tanis Fiber Arts PureWash Fingering Weight Yarn (113g = 450yds). 11 contrasting colours labeled 1-11 for your convenience and 780 (850, 975, 1050, 1150) 1200, 1350, 1500, 1620, 1700 yards of main colour. There is a lot of room for yarn substitutions here. You don’t have to use as many colours as I have, I just happen to have a lot of odds and ends of leftover sock yarn to pull from! This yoke would look just as
great with as few as 2-3 colours.

The yardage required for the contrasting colours can vary wildly depending on the way you choose to lay them out. You’ll need as little as 13 yards of the less-used colours and as much as 60 yards of the more prominent colours. More or less depending on your artistic choices.

Additional Tools and Materials
