The Lunar Cycle Socks are knit from the cuff down with lunar cycle colourwork around the ankles. They feature a French heel with gusset decreases but are easily adaptable for other heel styles.


These socks were designed for my younger brother, Murdoch, who loves astrology and the moon. In early July 2021, he was in an accident and sustained a head injury. Proceeds from the sale of this pattern will be going to a fund to help cover the costs of his rehabilitation, medical fees, and support for my family. As you knit and wear these socks I ask that you send positive vibes and thoughts for my brother and family.


There are three size options which are obtained by changing the needle size:

21cm circumference knit on 2.25mm needles
23cm circumference knit on 2.5mm needles
25cm circumference knit on 2.75mm needles.

Note that you may need to size up your needles for the colourwork section

Meterage:

Main colour: 275-400m depending on shoe size
Contrast colour: approx 50m

The sample is size 21cm knit in Alley Cat Yarns Leo BFL sock in colourway Gorky Park and West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4 Ply Solids in colourway Milk Bottle.
