The LUSSE Slipover is knit from the top down in a cable pattern with two strands of yarn held together – Merino Wool and Silk Mohair.

The cast-on will create an invisible shoulder seam, from which the back is knit first. The left and right shoulders will be worked next and the cable pattern will be established at the same time.

Back and shoulders will then be joined in the round to knit the body with its continuous 5-cable pattern. The hem is knit in a stretchy 1x1 rib, which will also be used along the neckline and armholes, where stitches are picked up.

LUSSE is a colloquial word for ‘St. Lucia’, which is a holiday celebrated widely in Sweden on December 13th. A traditional sweet bread made with saffron called a ‘Lussebulle’ is usually enjoyed on this day. The braiding of this bread is the inspiration for the cable patterned LUSSE series.
