Luz de la Luna Vest

Translates to the light of the moon, and this vest is shaped as a crescent moon to give this piece its distinct shape. Luna is also the name of my very energetic dog that loves to run around the woods that I took these pictures in, and whom insists on taking a walk every day, no matter the weather, which is also why this piece was designed as a perfect layering piece without adding the bulk of a sweater under your jacket.
This piece works up quickly – about 3 hours if your crochet fast, so it’s a perfect last minute gift that is sure to impress!

Materials
K hook
Loops and Threads Charisma Heather or equivalent Sz 5 bulky weight yarn
Gauge
6 hdc x 3 hdc per 5 cm x 5 cm for each piece
Stitches
HDC
HDC in BLO
HDC 2 Tog in BLO
Special Notes

  1. Pattern is worked in two pieces, the cowl and the body, they are then seamed together
  2. Ch 2 counts as the first HDC
  3. If you plan ahead, you can leave a long tail from both pieces and piece them together so that each tail sews up the front and the back, creating less tails for you to weave in
  4. On my last hdc, I like to put it IN BETWEEN the turning chain and the last stitch, as opposed to the BLO, I feel like it make a sturdier garment
  5. Lion Brand Hometown USA and Bernat Super Soft Chunky are great yarn substitutes
