This free pattern was designed for the July 2016 Solid Socks Mystery Sock KAL.

This cuff-down design is an addition to my patterns based on George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Fire and Ice series. It’s inspired by the characters Lyanna Stark and Lyanna Mormont in the books and the TV series.

I hope that you find beauty in this sock, as all of Westeros found in Lyanna Stark. Much like Lyanna was abducted by Rhaegar Targaryen, your friends and family may try to abduct your finished socks! Also, I have been told that like her namesake, Lyanna Mormont, this pattern kicks some serious butt.

Enjoy the mystery and at the end you will have a pair of socks to keep your feet warm in the cold. Because as you know, winter is coming.

Some details:

  • A total of 4 clues will be released one per week starting July 1, 2016.
  • A solid color yarn is recommended (and required for the Solid Socks group)
  • Recommended needle size is US 1 (2.25 mm) but you can always use your preferred needle size & gauge and choose the size/stitch count accordingly. The pattern has a good amount of stretch, too!
  • Written for magic loop but easily adapted to 2 circs or 5 dpns
  • It will be handy to have a couple of locking/removable stitch markers
  • This pattern is suitable to working 2AAT if that’s your preference
