Mabel Meadow Cardigan & Vest
About
The Mabel Meadow Cardigan is an oversized drop-shoulder cardigan with subtle feminine details and a vintage twist. The Mabel is worked top-down starting from the back. The back is shaped with increases and then a bit of armhole shaping is added. Then, stitches are picked up for each front.
The fronts are shaped with German Short Rows after which the neckline is shaped with increases. Once the armhole shaping is completed on each front, the two fronts are joined together with the back by casting on underarm stitches. The cardigan is worked flat back and forth until the ribbing where we work an eyelet row for the I-cord belt to go through.
Each button band, as well as the neckline, is finished with 1x1 ribbing. Stitches are picked up around the armhole and the sleeve is worked in the round. The sleeve can either be worked as a puff sleeve with a cinched cuff or a tapered sleeve! The cuff is finished with 1x1 ribbing. Optionally, an I-cord is worked to cinch the waist and give the cardigan a feminine and vintage touch.
This pattern comes with 2 files: 1 for the cardigan version and 1 for the vest version. The vest version has not been test knitted and features subtle modifications from the cardigan.
