Welcome to Machair! [ˈmaxɪɾ]

You have been transported to a small Scottish island called South Uist. Its western coast is surrounded by machair – low-lying grassy land with sand plains, sand hills and sand ridges, and with a lot of birds and rabbits as well. This is the place where I spent a part of my summer ’19 doing a research about microplastics in soil. It was an amazing experience I don’t want to forget about. So here is the reminder, cowl named Machair.

The original three-coloured version copies the landscape of the coast – blue sea, yellow sand, and green machair. This cowl can be knitted in one-coloured version as well, with no change of pattern.

The one-coloured version is great for Filcolana Pernilla – you would need 2 skeins with 3 mm needles.
