This design is a combination of knotting free-hanging Color Loops, and then using them in a traveling purl design to bring all the Color Loops to the front of the sock. It was fun to combine the two very textural techniques, but they can also be used independently. I used a yarn that has very long, gradual color changes on this swatch sock, which is a good compromise between using contrast colors for the Color Loops or just going for texture with a solid or tonal yarn. Yarn credits for this sample sock: Painted Desert Color 18, ombre stripe, 100% superwash wool, Purchased at Thumbelina Needlework in Solvang, CA. 2018.
