The Macy Cowl will create a finished tube scarf/cowl that is a standard width no matter what yarn weight you choose! Length is determined by the number of rows worked. The pattern includes numbers to use (almost) any yarn weight, including fingering, sport, DK, worsted, aran and bulky weight yarn!

Yarn Ideas - This is a great pattern to experiment with color, striping and texture. Here are a few ideas to get creative with your Macy Cowl:

  • Self striping yarn
  • Mohair (held with another yarn or by itself)
  • Variegated yarn
  • “One skein wonders”
  • Scrappy yarn
  • Art yarn
  • Mini skein stashbuster
  • Helical knitting practice
  • Handspun yarn
  • Color blocking

Construction - With scrap yarn, a crochet provisional cast-on is worked across your circular needle. The main color is knit across the provisionally cast-on stitches and joined in the round. Piece is worked to desired length then ends are grafted together.
