"The basketweave/checkerboard scarf is probably my all-time favorite because it’s easy and it looks great and I was so sure I was making crazy advanced knitting strides -- although, really, it’s just knit and purl. It’s so easy! Even though it looks complex!"

Pattern description from Crazy Aunt Purl’s Drunk, Divorced, and Covered in Cat Hair: “The concept behind this scarf is so cool You make little blocks of stockinette stitch. Some blocks are stockinette, and some are reverse stockinette; together they make a checkerboard!”

Ingredients:

  • Yarn: I used Noro Kureyon, but this pattern will work for any worsted -weight yarn. One skein will make a lovely scarf; two skeins make an extra-long beauty.
  • Needles: For the Noro, I used size 10.5 needles
  • Wine Selection: A hearty Shiraz
  • Accessories: Row/stitch counter, if you have one handy.
