Short-sleeved, cropped cardigan/shrug. Open in the front except for a ribbed empire waistband holding it closed. Knit mainly in gravel stitch, the ‘skirt’ beneath the waistband is knit in stockinette. Loops of chained crochet stitches finish off the bottom hem while crocheted picot points line the deep V neckline.
When choosing what size to knit measure just BENEATH your bust to find the best fit. Since the shrug is mostly open it is very forgiving so it would be better to round down a size than up in my opinion.
NOTE: Mothers-to-be, this is perfect for you! With the shrug closing just under the bust line there is no interference with the belly. I was always chilly even before I had my kids and it was so hard to find maternity sweaters that weren’t just HUGE, floppy messes.
