Sisterly love is special. I think it is a bit like May — it comes every time bringing fresh joy and warmth. I’ve always wished to capture this enchanting feeling and keep it close around me. This wish has inspired Maija — which is my sister’s name — simple but lovely crescent shaped shawl with petal-like edging. Just like my little sister this shawl gives me a hug, instantly making me smile and feel better. Especially since we live so far apart.
This is the shawl of many possibilities to make it as unique as our sisters are — you can adjust the size of the shawl before it ends. You can make it in any yarn starting with the finest lace and ending with the bulkiest you dare to knit. As for the color scheme — there are so many possible approaches. There are 2 options for bottom edge: sweetheart lace or short row scallops.
It could be your first and favorite shawl, even if you are new to lace and short row knitting. Don’t be afraid, this is easier than it looks! I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I did!
