The Majorna Beanie is inspired by an area in Gothenburg, Sweden - If you ever visit Majorna during the winter months, and let’s be honest, the autumn and spring months too, you will notice how literally every person is wearing a beanie just like this one - it’s like our local uniform around here! This city can be cold and windy, so with this beanie, you will be both warm and stylish in a real Gothenburg way.

There are two versions of this pattern - one with a cable pattern, and one that is 2x2 rib all over. The beanie is worked bottom up, starting with a brim in 2x2 rib.

This is a gauge flexible pattern, meaning that you can use most yarn weights to make your own version of this beanie. The pattern will work with a gauge from 16 st/10 cm to 32 st/10 cm.

If this whole gauge flexible pattern business sounds complicated, don’t worry - the pattern includes a guide explaining exactly how it works,

The sample beanies shown in the photos are made with DK weight yarn, except for the dark brown one which is made with fingering weight yarn. The pattern will require about 100 grams of your chosen yarn, for DK weight yarn, that is 200 meters/225 yards. Heavier yarn weight will require fewer meters of yarn, while lighter weights will require more meters, but in general, 100 grams of yarn will be just right.
