This pattern is being published on 12th August 2026. All profits made from the pattern between the 12th and 26th August will be donated to the hospice that cared for Dan on his final day.

The Make A Ripple Blanket is entirely inspired by my gorgeous husband Dan.

Dan passed away in February 2026 after a short but brutal battle with cancer. He overcame cancer once before, but this time we very sadly lost him.

I really wanted to have a project to work on that would bring me comfort, and to be a lasting reminder of him.

I chose colours that linked to Dan personally, and yarn that would have made him smile. The word ‘ripple’ has so many links to Dan that I knew I had to use a stitch inspired by it.

I hope you enjoy creating your own ripples.

Blanket Details

The blanket has a basis of garter stitch, and then some straightforward lace stitches are used to create the ripple effect.

The pattern is both written and charted and also contains 3 video tutorials showing you the following :-

1 - How to work the Ripple Stitch, including reading your knitting in a really easy way.
2 - How to change your yarns to produce a really neat edge.
3 - How to weave in your ends.

The patterns includes information on how to adjust the size.

Yarn

I used 11 different colours of Stylecraft Special DK. The pattern lists these colours, and the order I worked them.

I used approximately 45g of each colour. The finished blanket weighed around 500g.

You can use as many or few colours as you like, customising it to your own preferences.

If you prefer you could substitute the DK yarn for fingering weight held double. I have done a swatch for this and it works out lovely.
