This pattern is available from kulabradesign.com for $7.00.

This shawl consists of two parts: the main part and the border. The main part is worked in segments (you will need 25), and then the border in joined seamlessly to it with a simple trick. There’s no need to break or join yarn. And just one color is used in any row.

Techniquie-wise, it is mostly short rows and mosaic knitting. Not too difficult, but not for the novice knitter.

MATERIALS:

  • 800m of MC (shown lt green), and 600m of CC (dark green). Use highly contrasting colors; either solids, or a gradient (like Zaubebrall crazy 400m/100g) for MC, and solid for CC. I don’t recommend using yarn with faster color changes.
  • 4.0 or 4.5mm circular needles. The circles are a little bumpy right off the needles, and need to be blocked to lay completely flat and round. Stiff fabric won’t block as needed, that’s why it’s important to knit loose.

SIZE:
- 170cm wingspan, drops 70 cm; blocked. The circles are 5.5cm across after blocking.

ERRATA - corrected in new pdf. The line above the table on page 2 should read: CO with MC and knit 1 garter ridge (with MC, not with CC, as was in the old pdf).
