Combining filet crochet and linen stitch, this rectangular
shawl is an ideal challenge for a beginner crocheter or a
mindful make for the more advanced stitcher. Worked in rows
from the short side, the diamond filet pattern creates a soft
drape while the stripes of linen add a lovely pop of color.

Tension often varies between stitch types, and this pattern
uses a combination of chain, single crochet, and double
crochet stitches. Your filet sections may work up tighter than
your all double crochet gauge swatch due to the chain
stitches. Consider using a larger hook for the chains and
single crochets in the linen stitch sections. Measure the width
of your shawl occasionally to make sure you are maintaining
straight edges throughout.
