This pattern is a tribute twice over - I was born and raised in Peru and wanted to honor an Inca goddess in my mythology series. Mama Sara is the goddess of grain and agriculture, a very important figure in the Incan pantheon, and this shawl pays homage to the rich agricultural landscape of my home country.

Also, my mother’s name was Sara, and many people who weren’t her biological children but loved her like a mother called her Mama Sara. Although my mom would be appalled at the bright yellow I chose - she was a black and white lady all the way - I will remember the way her embrace warmed me as I wear this shawl.
