I designed this mandala a couple years ago to be the center of a beret with the same name.
My idea was to create a beret that started from a mandala, this was the result of that mandala.

CONSTRUCTION
Sakura is a mandala worked from the center outwards.
It starts with the pinhole cast-on method and the Pi shawl formula.
The design is achieved with a lace pattern, combining yarn overs with right and left leaning decreases to create the “petals”
You can hang it on to an embroidery hoop or use it on its own as a table decoration. You can also sew it on to a round pillow.

YARN
Revesderecho Cotton (100% Cotton yarn; Sport weight; 250m / 273yds per 100g skein).

• 1 skein in color Rosado 079 or 100m / 109 yds of sport weight yarn.

GAUGE
23 sts x 34 rounds = 10cm / 4″, knitted in the round in stockinette stitch with 3mm / US 2½ needles, measured after blocking

NEEDLES

• 3mm / US 2½, 80cm / 32″ length.
• Optional: DPN’s or needles suitable for working small circumferences.

Always use the needle size that will result in the correct gauge after blocking.

NOTIONS

• 8 stitch markers (1 unique)
• Tapestry needle
• Optional: 24cm // 9½” embroidery hoop or round pillow

Originalmente diseñé este mandala hace algunos años para ser el centro de una boina con el mismo nombre.
Mi idea era comenzar una boina con un mandala en el centro y este fue el resultado de dicho mandala.

CONSTRUCCIÓN
Sakura es un mandala tejido desde el centro hacia afuera.
Comienza con la técnica pinhole cast-on y la fórmula Pi shawl.
El diseño se va dibujando en punto encaje, usando lazadas y disminuciones para formar los “pétalos”.
Puedes colgarlo sobre un bastidor, cerrarlo con un borde I-cord para utilizarlo por sí solo como decoración de mesa o bordarlo sobre un cojín redondo.

HILADO
Revesderecho Cotton (100% Algodón; Grosor Sport; 250m en 100g).

• 1 ovillo en color Rosado 079 o aprox 100m de hilado grosor sport.

MUESTRA
23 pts x 34 vueltas = 10cm, tejida en redondo con palillos de grosor 3mm en punto jersey, medida después de bloquear.

PALILLOS

• Palillo de grosor 3mm, cable de 80cm.
• Opcional: palillos de doble punta para trabajar circunferencias pequeñas

Escoge siempre el grosor de palillo que necesites para obtener la muestra.

OTROS MATERIALES

• 8 marcadores de punto (1 diferente)
• Aguja de lana
• Opcional: bastidor de 24cm de diámetro o funda de cojín redondo
