Manzanita Avenue is a bottom-up beanie inspired by a beloved set of handmade, mid-century pottery mugs belonging to my grandparents. They’re my favorite mugs ever, and this hat gives the same warm and cozy feelings.

Construction
The hat begins with a 1x1 ribbed brim, with the option to make it long enough to be folded up for additional warmth. The ribbing is continued in four sections around the body of the hat, along with a traveling zigzag cable (this section has both charted and written instructions). Decreases are worked at the beginning and end of each section, creating an X shape at the crown and allowing the patterning to continue all the way to the top.

Sample is knitted from Hudson + West Co Forge in Gold Leaf
