Single large maple leaf motifs are not everyone’s jam (outside of sporting events) so I designed this pattern to use the leaves on a more low key basis. Here’s an all over pattern that uses a small maple leaf repeat for a more subtle display of Canadian pride.

This top down sock employs two different stranded patterns: an alternating small red maple leaf and narrow vertical stripes. A standard heel flap is made with diminishing side gussets.

Yarn selection suggestions: in order to knit Canadian themed socks you will need two solid colors of yarn: a red and a white (or natural as I have in the pictured socks). As an alternative and for a striking different look, try some fall colors. Just make sure that there is a strong contrast between them so that the pattern shows up.
