A long time ago, around sixth grade, I knitted my first lace socks from homespun yarn my grandmother used to spin. In every thread lived her care and the warmth of our quiet evenings.
Years later, my mother showed me a small piece of those socks, carefully preserved. That’s when the idea to recreate them as a pattern was born.
It was early March — the time of red-and-white martinitas, symbols of spring and hope. And so, red-and-white socks came to life — a quiet expression of love for what once kept me warm.
I named the design after my mother, Maria — as a thank you for her heart, which held even a small piece of my childhood. These socks now carry not just a pattern, but a story where past and present intertwine like lace.
