The Marianne Shawl was inspired by the character
Marianne from the novel Sense and Sensibility
by Jane Austen. Each pattern in this shawl is
done in multipes of 3 to represent the 3 sister’s.
The first set of playful eyelets represents the youngest
of the 3 sister’s Margret. The garter stitch section
represents the practical Elinor. And the larger eyelet
section represents the romantic Marianne. You can
almost see Marianne wearing this shawl as she walks
in the gardens and fields dreaming of her Willoughby.

This pattern is knit in stockinet stitch, garter stitch
and lace eyelets. And it is knitted top down.

This is the first pattern I’ve ever designed and I hope you enjoy knitting it as much as I did designing it. If you post pictures of you work on Instagram feel free to tag me at @crystalteaknits and use the #marianneshawl I would love to see your work. Happy knitting!
