Welcome to Marl!

Marl is a bottom-up knitted cowl with two fingering weight yarns held together. You can use both solids, one solid and one variegated yarn or even two completely different colours. Or if you want it easier, you can knit it with one DK yarn.

Marl is a sedimentary rock in grey-brownish colour consisting of CaCO3-rich clays and silt. Its origin is mostly in marine or lacustrine (lake) environments where it deposits in more or less inclined layers, such as the texture of Marl cowl.

My sister came to me with a wish to make her a simple cowl with dimensions of her favourite softshell cowl in colour to match her winter shoes. It was a big challenge for me to meet her ideas, but finally, I could come up with this Marl cowl!

YARN
280 m (306 yards) of fingering weight yarn.

Although one skein would be enough, you have to use two skeins, because two yarns are held together while knitting, or you can use 140 metres of DK weight yarn.

I used Lang Yarns Jawoll.
