ABOUT
The idea behind the Mascarade slipover is to combine the look of a classic Fair Isle slipover with a modern touch. This is reflected in the all-over graphic knit pattern, as well as in the relaxed fit.

The slipover is knitted top down, with the shoulder construction designed as a ‘European shoulder’ to ensure a good fit.

You’ll find two versions for your preferred language:

  • One is for working the upper body in rows. If you’re not put off by purling colourwork, then you’ve come to the right place.
  • The other version is for working the upper body in the round using only knit stitches which are to be steeked later (instruction provided)

GAUGE
27 sts x 36 r per 10x10 cm / 4” x 4” in garter stitch with needle 3.25 mm/US 3

NEEDLES
Circular needle 3.25 mm/US 3 (at least 80 cm / 32”) and 2.75 mm/US 2 for the cuffs (adjust your needle size to get the correct gauge)

NOTIONS
Stitch markers & a tapestry needle to weave in ends & some waste yarn to put stitches on hold

YARN REQUIREMENTS
The sample was knit with On Stage Long Métrage by Nature’s Luxury (50% Merino, 30% Mulberry silk, 20% Baby Camel) using the colours Chateaux de sable as main colour, Mascarade (dark red) as first contrast colour and Lili Marleen (light pink) as second contrast colour.
The pattern can be worked with all fingering weight yarns suitable to stranded knitting.

If you use the original yarn, you will need 2 (2, 2, 2, 2) (2, 2, 3, 3) skeins for the main colour, 1 (1, 1, 1, 1) (2, 2, 2, 2) skeins for the first contrast colour and 1 skein for the second contrast colour.
