My family loves building with interlocking bricks. I love to crochet. We combined our hobbies to create this snuggly blanket that is actually soft on the feet !

Using Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn! or any other yarn of your choice, you can:

  • follow my diagram
  • use the blank chart to create your own OR
  • make a bunch of squares and let your master builder create their own design!

After crocheting the first motif, you can calculate how many squares you will need to make a blanket the size you wish. The amount of yarn needed for one square multiplied by the number of squares will help determine the amount of yarn needed.

To make this pattern, you will need to know how to make the following stitches/techniques:

  • Magic ring
  • Chain
  • Single crochet
  • Half double crochet
  • Double crochet
  • Treble/triple crochet
  • Slip stitch

Photo tutorials are provided for:

  • Hidden join (to end a square)
  • Invisible join (to attach squares together)
  • Border clarification
  • Weaving joining tails into the border

As a printer-friendly option, main instructions, the chart of my layout, and a blank chart consume pages 4-7. Many more photos and tutorials are included on the following pages (that you wouldn’t necessarily need to print).

Squares are worked in joined rounds. Circles are worked in continuous rounds. Squares are joined using an invisible join that creates a flat seam that doesn’t show on either side. The finished product has a stunning 3D effect that does not require stuffing. The possibilities for finished projects are endless!
