A timeless, knitted jumper worked from the top down. This makes it easy to adjust the length to suit your preferences. The garment is designed as a versatile staple, equally suitable for everyday wear and more formal occasions. The construction is simple but produces a lovely result.

The Matilda Sweater is knitted from the top down with raglan increases. The work is divided into sleeves and body, which are knitted separately and finished with ribbing. Stitches are picked up for the neck ribbing, which is knitted in the round and then cast off. We have chosen to include two different instructions in the pattern, so that it suits both beginners and experienced knitters. If you want to knit a simple, beginner-friendly pattern, choose version 1. If you want a well-constructed pattern with lovely details, choose version 2. The difference between the versions lies in the neckline shaping using German short rows, as well as the ribbing. The simple version has no neckline shaping and standard ribbing. The more advanced version features a raised neckline and slightly more detail in the ribbing.
