Matteo Sweatshirt Light
The Matteo Sweatshirt Light is a drapey drop shoulder knitted sweatshirt worked top down in stockinette stitch. Increases shape and decorate the back panel while a neat double folded stockinette edge borders the collar, cuffs and the hem. The Matteo Sweatshirt Light is the fingering weight yarn version of its Aran weight counterpart, the Matteo Sweatshirt.
Sizes: XS (S, M, L, XL) (2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL) (6XL, 7XL)
Chest Circumference: The garment measures 100 (106, 110, 115, 122) (127, 134, 138, 146) (155, 166) cm or 39.25 (41.75, 43.25, 45.25, 48) (50, 52.75, 54.25, 57.5) (61, 65.25) inches to fit a chest circumference of 85-90 (90-95, 95-100, 100-105, 106-111) (112-117, 118-123, 123-128, 131-136) (140-145, 150-155) cm or 33.5-35.5 (35.5-37.5, 37.5-39.25, 39.25-41.25, 41.75-43.75) (44-46, 46.5-48.5, 48.5-50.5, 51.5-53.5) (55-57, 59-61) inches.
If you’re in between sizes, pick the larger size for a comfortable and relaxed fit.
The Matteo Sweatshirt Light is designed to have approx. 10-15 cm (4-6 inches) of positive ease, meaning that the finished garment is going to be approx. 10-15 cm (4-6 inches) larger in circumference than the chest circumference you’re knitting for.
Note that if you’re knitting this for someone with really broad shoulders, you might want to consider sizing up. See shoulder width measurements below.
The sample is knitted in a size M to fit a bust circumference of 97 cm (38.25 inches). The resulting positive ease is of 13.5 cm (5.25 inches).

Sleeve Length: 48.5 cm (19 inches) measured from the underarm.
Gauge: 25 sts x 34 rows = 10 x 10 cm (4 x 4 inches) in stockinette stitch on 4 mm (US 6) needles after washing and blocking.
Needles: 4 mm and 2.75 mm (US 6 and US 2)/ 40 and 80 and/or 100 cm (16 and 32 and/or 40 inch) circular needles.
Yarn: approx. 1550 (1600, 1650, 1750, 1850) (1975, 2100, 2175, 2300) (2475, 2600) metres or 1695 (1750, 1805, 1915, 2025) (2160, 2295, 2380, 2515) (2705, 2845) yards of fingering weight yarn.
