Ocean wind through beach grass and dune paths at golden hour — Matunuck is an ode to the textures, light, and soothing calm of the beach in autumn. When the summer tourists have left, the beach becomes a sanctuary where we don our coziest sweaters and head to the shoreline with our knitting, book, blanket, and a camp chair.

Inspired by the beach of its namesake in South County, Rhode Island, this timeless, heritage-inspired sweater is covered in my signature cables and textures reminiscent of the New England seaside. The nautical cable panels on the front and back are flanked by simple braided cables, and effortless garter rib stitch texture for tactile and visual comfort.

Made in luscious Woodnote DK by Baa Ram Ewe, this 100% British breed yarn provides soft woolly warmth, durability, and gorgeous stitch definition for all the lovely cables and textures. Available in the States through Fairmount Fibers, the 15-shade color palette features three natural colorways and 12 beautiful overdyed heathers.

Matunuck is a full-fashioned drop shoulder pullover worked from the bottom up with an optional tubular cast-on and joined with a three-needle bind-off at the shoulder. The sleeves are worked from the bottom up with an optional tubular cast-on and seamed to the armhole. There is gentle underarm and sleeve cap shaping for a better fit. The folded crew neckband is picked up and worked in the round after seaming.
