This soft, lightweight wool hat was inspired by the 850 year old Maulbronn Monastery near my home in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. This UNESCO World Heritage Site was one of the first to use gothic style architecture in Germany as characterized by the pointed arches. I remember my first visit to the monastery. It was in early May, and I was newly pregnant with my daughter Lottie. I remember laughing with friends and feeling the slight chill still in the air while enjoying the early spring flowers. This hat represents the beauty and wonder of the Maulbronn Monastery in spring, with its cable pointed arches and bobble flowers. Knitted in fingering weight yarn, is it the perfect light hat for warmer climates and those days when the cold of winter alternates with the warmth of spring.
