“Mavi” means “blue” in Turkish. The stranded colourwork is reminiscent of middle Eastern ornaments, and the colours can be found in the Turkish sea waters.

The hat has been designed for a yarn with long colour changes, but it will also work with solid colours. The black/blue hat in the images was knitted with Plymouth Yarns “Gina” in colour 21 and a black DK / 8 ply. The red hat was knitted with 1 50 g ball of Skeinz Vintage DK combined with Skeinz Pulse, and you can see how much Vintage was left.

“Gina” is a worsted (10 ply) weight, but it works very well in this hat.

The pattern has charts for dark on light and light on dark if you prefer to reverse the patterning.

You will need about 1 50 g ball of DK (110 m, 135 yd) and about 30 - 40 g of Gina or similar yarn.

You should be comfortable with these techniques:
Tubular cast-on or Long Tail cast-on
Magic loop or knitting with DPNs
Stranded knitting with two colours
Catching long floats. In this pattern, the longest float is 7 stitches.

Garn mit langen Farbwechseln ist für diese Mütze ideal, aber sie sieht auch mit einfarbigem Kontrastgarn toll aus.

Die Mütze in den Fotos ist mit Plymouth Yarns “Gina” (Farbe 21) und einem schwarzen Garn für Nadelstärke 4 (DK - 8 ply) gearbeitet.

“Gina” ist etwas dicker (Nadelstärke 5 - 6), aber wirkt in dieser Mütze gut.

Das Muster hat Strickschriften für Hell auf Dunkel (wie im Foto) und umgekehrt.

Je ein 50g Knäuel Hauptfarbe und Kontrastfarbe werden für eine Mütze benötigt.

Die folgenden Kenntnisse sind hilfreich:
Runder Anschlag, oder normaler Anschlag
Magic Loop mit Rundstricknadeln, oder mit Nadelspiel in Runden stricken
Musterstricken mit zwei Farben
Lange Spannfäden verkreuzen. In diesem Muster sind die längsten Spannfäden über 7 Maschen.
