A glamorous, silky Deco-inspired shell, with curved hem, bias-knit panels, and beaded diagonals.

Based on my great-grandmother, Maxine Elliott, a fun-loving flapper who lived a sad life.

A note on fur: Some people have objected to the fact that I wore fur for this pattern shoot. Personally, I wouldn’t buy fur new, but this particular piece was inherited from a grandparent of my partner, and I don’t have any moral issues with continuing to use something that was manufactured years before my birth; it seems more respectful to both the animal and my partner’s grandmother than throwing it away. I’m genuinely sorry if you feel differently.

Best,
Emily
